216 pages; 19 chapters
German Army Anti-Partisan Operations is one of the best books on German
Army Anti-Partisan Operations and Tactics
ever written. With specific
precision,
German Army Anti-Partisan Operations describes how WW2
German combat leaders functioned at both the
tactical and operational
levels
against communist partisans. German Army Anti-Partisan
Operations
is a pristine guidebook to the mindsets and techniques applied so
well by outnumbered
WW2 German Army units fighting communist
"partisans"
who were actually a combination of communist army troops and
ideological fanatics.
German Army Anti-Partisan Operations also includes
several chapters from the communist standpoint that outline how the
communist partisans fought and maneuvered at the operational level. The
lessons included in this small but valuable textbook are as useful now, in a
variety of contexts, as they were during the harsh years of blood and betrayal
during
WW2. The focus of German Army Anti-Partisan Operations is on
offensive
anti-partisan combat.
Review Table of Contents
"During World War II, courses of instruction were organized on occasion for partisan recruits. In general, however,
practice took the place of training. The guerillas were usually poor in marksmanship and fire discipline. On the other
hand, they proved superior only to any third class combat units used against them and in the proper utilization of
the terrain as well as the employment of camouflage measures. Of courses the longer individual partisans survived,
the better they became, like the deer with full antler racks that seem to never fall to any hunter's high powered
bullets. Their toughness and acclimatization to broken terrain and mountain conditions did not generally adapt them
to extraordinary march performances. They were not less susceptible than any regular troops, except the worst, to
the inclemency's of the climate, particularly in winter."
